Jesus Lives!

Easter, or Resurrection Day – whichever you prefer – is upon us. The time when we celebrate our Risen Savior, remember what He did for us, and reflect on His sacrifice and what it means to the world.

Finding Peace Amidst Chaos

Several years ago, there was a series on TV called, Lost. In the first episode, a plane crashed on a deserted island in the middle of nowhere. It was chaos. Jagged, twisted parts of the plane strewn all around, some burning. Survivors were in different stages of just experiencing a traumatic event. As the scene expanded, and you could see people struggling to get to their feet, helping others, looking for their friends and loved ones, running, etc., there was one lady sitting alone calmly in the sand painting her fingernails.

Does God Exist?

I’ve been wanting to write about this for some time now, however, I must wait on the Lord. He lets me know when it’s time for me to write and what He wants me to write about. I find when I have something I want to write and I just can’t seem to do it, it’s because He has something He wants to show me. So, I wait.

When the World Changed

It was March 11, 2020 when the world changed.

That was the day a basketball game made the coronavirus pandemic real.

The Utah Jazz were in Oklahoma City getting ready to play the Thunder in a regular season game. The game never even started. Players were on the court, and tip-off was about to take place. Both teams went back into their locker rooms and the crowd was told the game had been postponed and asked to leave in an orderly fashion. We found out afterwards, it had been discovered that one of the Jazz players tested positive for the virus. About an hour and a half later, the NBA suspended the rest of the season.

Live by Faith

Live by faith
Or live by deeds
One is a struggle
One fills our needs
If you’ll give up control
Your faith will increase
Rely on yourself
And your blessings will cease
Lean not on your own understanding
Glorify God to the most
Your needs are well known by the Father
The Son and the Holy Ghost

Let This Cup Pass From Me

Profound Understanding

My Papaw Tollett was a Missionary Baptist preacher.

What he lacked in physical stature, he more than made up for in spiritual boldness.

He was a pillar of our church.  A strong cornerstone – not one to ever shy away from the Truth.

Secular Christians Don’t Drink Coke

Things are Not Always What They Seem

Our daughter, Dayton, was about 18 months old when she mistakenly drank out of a Coke can her father had used to spit chewing tobacco in. She was running through the living room, and as she passed the end table where the Coke can was, she stopped, picked it up, and took a drink. She was as fast as lightning! Poor little baby…what she thought was a refreshing drink turned out to be something truly horrible. It wasn’t at all what it seemed to be.

A Great Physician

Whatever you do, do it from the heart, as something done for the Lord and not for people, (Colossians 3:23).

I am hard pressed to find a better example on earth, during my lifetime, of someone living out this scripture more than my father. Continue reading A Great Physician

Life is Like a Chocolate Pie

The year my mother and brother died, we decided to have a big ole family Christmas at my parents’ house.  Everyone would be there from my mom’s side of the family.  We even decided to draw names and exchange gifts.  My mom and brother had only died 23 days apart from each other.  It started in October, so we were all still very raw and pretty much going through life like zombies.
